Very close to McGee's Inn at 506 Rideau Street is Pharaoh's House. It is Ottawa's only Egyptian Restaurant.
Run by Hassan Ghanim it is a welcom addition to the culinary far of Sandy Hill.
Pharaoh's House offers 12 traditional Egyptian plates, including the popular Koshari (rice, macaroni, spaghetti, chickpeas, fried onions, lentils, tomato sauce and any king of meat - if desired.
They also offer Mahshi - vegetarian
Bamia with Meat (Okra dish)
Egyptian Chicken Bane
Egyptian Steak Style.
You can eat in, take food out and have it delivered.
We have not eaten here yet, but there was an amazing write up in the paper singing the praises of this restaurant.
